Do you want a lightweight, portable camping hammock that can save you some money? The Kootek hammock costs significantly less than its competitors, yet it’s still really durable and conveniently easy to use.
In fact, the Kootek makes a great compact travel hammock, breathable beach hammock and everyday napping hammock in the backyard. In other words, you can use the Kootek virtually anywhere, which makes it an even better value than heavier, larger hammocks.
Kootek Hammock VS ENO:
If you’re shopping for a lightweight portable camping hammock, you’ve probably come across the popular and well-known ENO hammocks. Well, the Kootek is less expensive knock-off of the ENO.
You can save a significant amount of money. However, you may forgo some of the quality. That said, I checked out the fabric differences (210T for Kootek and 70D for ENO). It turns out, these 2 materials are essentially the same thing.
Furthermore, the beds have virtually the same dimensions and weight capacity for 2 adults. However, the ENO does not come with tree straps, while the Kootek does.
Although I love ENO hammocks, it looks like Kootek offers the better deal here, especially if your priority is saving money.
Set-up Directions & How to Hang Kootek Hammocks:
This camping hammock comes with its own tree-hanging straps and high-strength carabiners. Therefore, you don’t have to go out and purchase these accessories separately.
I personally prefer these hanging straps over hanging ropes because you don’t have to hassle with tying knots. You can still adjust the height of your hammock using straps, but they are much simpler to use.
Simply wrap the tree strap around a trunk and secure the carabiner through one of the strap loops. Then secure it to the end of the hammock. Adjust your hammock height by moving the carabiner to a different loop on the strap.
By the way, the wide strap design won’t damage tree bark or harm the tree, like ropes can sometimes do. (Another reason I like straps better than ropes.)
Note: Kootek hammocks conveniently fit standard hammock stands as well. Therefore, you don’t need a tree in order to use your hammock. In fact, I often use mine indoors during winter on this hammock stand (which is also portable).
Hammock Carrying… Made Easy
The Kootek also comes with its own matching carrying bag. This compact sack can hold the entire hammock with its accessories and still only weighs a few pounds.
Plus, if you backpack doesn’t have space to fit your hammock, just attach the hammock bag to the outside of your pack.
In fact, this lightweight portable hammock is so convenient (and comfortable), you may end up taking it with you everywhere. =)
Nylon Hammock Washing Instructions:
Because the Kootek is made of strong (yet fine) nylon material, ideally, you want to wash it by hand. However, you can clean it in the washing machine if you place it in a bag first.
Then, hang it to dry. The thin fabric dries quickly, which is can come in handy when you are out camping.

Kootek Camping Hammock with Mosquito Net:
Do you frequently camp in an area that has lots of bugs or flying insects? You may want to invest a few more dollars and get a Hammock with matching mosquito net.
The netting is actually connected the length of one of the hammock sides. Therefore, it’s very easy to set up, use and pack away.
However, you can also use this hammock without the netting. Simply, flip the hammock so that the netting is on the bottom side and sit or lay like you would a regular hammock.
I have one of these mosquito net hammocks myself, but I’ve actually never needed to use the netting. I just use it as a regular hammock (but it’s nice to know I have the mosquito protection there just in case).
